What is?
V-line is a surgery that makes the face slimmer, narrower and contoured.
How is it performed?
This is done by:
- Gently excising the angular jaw, giving it a longer curve.
- Making the tip of the chin sharper and slimmer by doing a t-osteotomy or genioplasty.
Zygoma Surgery
For who?
Zygoma reduction is for people who have large protruding cheekbones. Zygoma is also ideal for high sharp cheekbones that give the face a very harsh look.
What is?
Zygoma is a surgery that makes the face look softer by reducing the size of the cheekbones.
How is it performed?
This is done by:
- First the protruding cheekbone is cut on the top, front and rear, in order to prepare it for rotation.
- Next the cheekbones are rotated horizontally, downwards, in order to bring the cheekbone in.
- Then the rotated top part is shaved/cut in order to align with the facial bone.
Then the excised bone is fixed back to the face.
Square Jaw Surgery
For who?
Square jaw surgery is aimed at reducing a very wide lower jaw. Patients who have a very big and wide or low jawline can benefit from square jaw surgery.
What is?
Square jaw makes the face more sleek and slim.
How is it performed?
This is done by:
- A long piece of the jaw is excised from under the ear to around the middle of the rear jaw.
- In some cases the front jaw may also be excised for a slimmer look.
Double Jaw Surgery
For who?
Double jaw surgery is for people who have a very long face or chin or someone with a protruding jaw. It can also be for someone who has a very short bite or malocclusion. Another reason for double jaw is facial asymmetry.
What is?
Usually a jaw surgery like square jaw or v-line is performed on just one jaw. During a double jaw surgery the doctor will operate on both jaws. This is to increase functionality and to limit over working on just one or the other.
How is it performed?
This is done by:
- The doctor cuts both the left and right side of the lower jaw and moves it forward or backwards depending on the treatment required by the patient.
- Then the doctor makes a cut on the upper jaw above the level of tooth roots. Thereafter separates the upper jaw and repositions it in a more optimal position.
FAQ Facial Contouring and Double Jaw Surgery
Facial Contouring surgery is a procedure where goal is to shape the facial line. In korea, there are 3 most popular facial contouring, zygoma reduction, square jaw reduction (mandible), chin reduction.
For zygoma reduction, the stitch removal will be on the 7th day. Meanwhile, for mandible reduction and chin reduction surgery, since the stitches will be inside of the mouth, dissolvable thread will be used and it is not necessary to remove the stitches, since it can melt by itself after several months. You can also get it removed on the 14th day.
General Anesthesia will be used to for facial contouring.
Yes, there will be bruise and swellings around the surgery area. The bruise will come and on the second and third day and it will gradually fading in around 2~3 weeks.
You need to stay in Korea for at least 14 days after surgery.
You need to be careful of what you eat. Please avoid hot food, since it could hurt the stitches area. Please also avoid food that has sharp edges, it could hurt the stitches area or even make the scar opened. If you get a zygoma reduction, please avoid food that is hard to chew, because it might move the cheekbone fixation.
You will be a good candidate for Double Jaw Surgery if you have one of these condition: unaligned jaws, Malloclusion (Protruded lower jaw), TMJ, Biting problems.
If you want to get a double jaw surgery, you need to create a teeth wafer before your surgery. Teeth wafer will be used as a guide to match the jaw and teeth alignment during the surgery, also it works as jaw aligning device right after the surgery. (Prices for wafer production is usually separated)
